The Grace and Peace of God be with you!
I am delighted to be writing to you again and sharing my love of the Bridegroom and His divine love song, The Song of Songs, with you.
The Bridegroom’s love song is the root of all that is in bloom this autumn at Hope’s Garden. We will be live streaming the third session of our Eternally Loved Virtual Workshop tonight on our Facebook page. It is not too late to join us! Each session stands alone and offers many seeds for spiritual growth. Tonight’s talk by De Yarrison will focus on tending to the vineyard of our hearts so the focus of today’s letter is the verses from The Song of Songs that inspired this talk.
“Take no notice of my swarthiness, it is the sun that has burnt me. My mother’s sons turned their anger on me, they made me look after the vineyards. Had I only looked after my own!”
The Song of Songs 1:6
Throughout Scripture, God speaks of His chosen people as His vineyard and garden. As we study and pray with The Song of Songs, we see that this analogy can be used to think of our hearts and souls, our inner sanctuary, where our Bridegroom dwells. We want to offer Him a place of rest and delight and a vineyard that produces good fruit for His kingdom.
The Bride is aware that it is because she has not tended the vineyard of her own heart that she is now in exile, swarthy, and burned by the harsh sun. These images are metaphors for the sin, sorrows, and trials that affect our whole personhood… emotional, psychological, physical, and spiritual.
Jesus, the Bridegroom of our souls, is ready and waiting to come and tend to our vineyard hearts with us. If we allow Him to be our Divine Gardener our hearts will indeed produce good fruit, grapes worthy of being crushed and made into the wine of Divine Love.
May Jesus, the Bridegroom, King, and Divine Gardener of our hearts fill you with His peace and love now and always.
Yours in Christ,
