The Bride Returns to Her True Home

“There are sixty queens and eighty concubines (and countless maidens). But my dove is unique, mine, unique and perfect. She is the darling of her mother, the favourite of the one who bore her. The maidens saw her, and proclaimed her blessed, queens and concubines sang her praises: ‘Who is this arising like the dawn, fair as the moon, resplendent as the sun, terrible as an army with banners?’ Return, Return, O Maid of Shulman, so we may gaze upon you!” The Song of Songs 6:8-10, 7:1

As I meditate on these verses from The Song of Songs, it is as though I can hear The Holy Trinity rejoicing and singing the praises of Mary, Mother and Bride, as They raise her up from the desert of this world to be crowned as queen of Heaven and Earth. How the Heart of God swells with love as He gazes upon His maid of Shulam, His Daughter of Peace and His beloved Spouse.

O how beautiful you are, Maid of Shulam, Unblemished Bride of the Triune God! How you ravish the heart of God! You lived your earthly life in the embrace of the Trinity and now They draw you in the footsteps of your Son and Bridegroom to be forever united, body and soul, to your Spouse. The embrace of Divine Love is now complete! You, O beautiful Daughter, Unblemished Bride, Holy Mother, are eternally one with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The Heart of God sings to you, O beautiful Bride, “Return, return, O maid of Shulam, that we may gaze upon you!” Long have They waited for this glorious day! Such tender love, pride and admiration in Their gaze upon you. “You are altogether beautiful, Our Love, wholly beautiful and, without a blemish. Come, Our lovely one, come and take your rest here in the arms of your Triune Spouse, for love is strong as death, a flame of Yahweh Himself. No floods can quench, no torrents drown Our love for you.”

Mary’s Assumption is a gift for all humanity. God has revealed the glory that He has awaiting us all…all those who surrender their own wills to Him, following the example of our Mother Mary and giving their fiat to His Holy Will. One day we, who respond in kind to His self-giving love, will be with Blessed Mary, united for all eternity with our Divine Bridegroom and Lord, body and soul.

All glory and thanksgiving, praise and adoration, to our Triune Spouse, now and ever and forever. Amen.

  1. This is such a beautiful reflection along with the simply elegant painting with roses on her hands and feet. I have been contemplating the real miracle of Mary’s Assumption all this month. It has sunk in deeply that she is really and truly ALIVE as Jesus’ mother ,eternally and faithfully reaching her hands out from heaven to take my hand or just hold me when I need my spiritual mom for strength, guidance, comfort and reassurance that she is “there” always. Only she could be perfect mother to all of mankind, ever attentive to each child’s needs. Through God’s creative miracle, he gave Jesus first to Mary’s womb; she knows instinctively that all needs and supplications from her children can and are given immediately over to her Savior Son. Like the best of good mothers whose child is suffering, she says, ” I’ll take care of it.” By taking it to Jesus. Thank you for this reflection.

    1. Thank you Mary Ann for your comments. She is really and truly ALIVE. Wow, yes and amen! Alive and full of love and care for you and for each one of us, her daughters. God bless you.
