Get the Facts

One in every three women in the U.S. has been, or is, in an abusive relationship.

Fifty thousand women around the world were killed by partners or family members in 2017 alone.

Twenty people in the United States are assaulted every minute by their partners.

About 4,000 women die each year due to domestic violence.

Over 10 million people per year experience intimate partner violence.

Approximately 40% of women killed by their abuser sought help in the 2 years before death.

50% of women seen in emergency departments report a history of abuse.

At least 5 million acts of domestic violence occur annually to women aged 18 years and older.

Abusive men come from all economic classes, races, religions, and occupations. They are often seen as a “good provider” and a respected member of his church and community.

Abuse victims between ages 35 and 49 run the highest risk of being killed.

Children who grow up in violent homes are more likely to develop alcohol and drug addictions.

Women’s greatest risk of violence comes from intimate partners – a current or former husband or boyfriend.

1 out of 3 women is a victim of domestic abuse.

Our Impact

Coercive Control

If any part of your relationship feels unsafe, controlling, or leaves you feeling small, afraid, or confused, please know that is not love, and it is not what God desires for you.  You may be facing coercive control if your partner:

  • Monitors your phone, finances, or movements
  • Isolates you from friends, family, or your faith
  • Uses fear, guilt, or religion to manipulate you
  • Makes you doubt your memory, reality, or worth
  • Controls decisions, resources, or how you express yourself
